Beauty Nothing
There is some much beauty in the world, you think that people wouldn't make up beauty. However, that is exactly what people seem to do. Why? Probably because, double rainbows seem cliche, sunsets and sunrises overused. So we look for beauty in things that wouldn't be counted as beautiful before. We take pictures of weird things or puddles of muddy water.
None of things are wrong, however, where does it end? Beauty is very obvious to see, it is either beautiful or something else. We have to be very careful in our search for beauty. There are a lot of scary things that may cause others to think it is beautiful, but it isn't. Its wrong and evil.
Despite that, why search for beauty so hard why have this quest? It's alright to admit that something is ugly when it is. It may hurt feelings, but there is nothing wrong. Frankness is refreshing, and people should have the right to say something is ugly as shit. Because that is exactly what things are. Furthermore, if you define things that are not beautiful as so. You will find that you will lose what is truly beautiful. If you lose contrast, you can never compare what is what.
Humanely, Inhuman, Humans
It's quite funny that when we describe someone being humane, we mean that they are treating others right, morally right. However, looking at the history of humanity it's not really known for being right, or morally right. Rather it is splattered with genocides, warfare, and all things gruesome. Technically, humanity is known for more of its atrocities than its good.
When we describe someone being inhuman it means that haven't been very nice. Howbeit, isn't that a bit convenient to say," Oh those acts were inhumane." When in reality it would seem that those things are very human. Human do terrible things. It would almost seem that it is part of us. To say that is not human would seem to dislocate yourself from what humanity is really like. It may not be who we are or what we aspire to be, but it's what we seem to do. It would be like denying that you don't have freckles. Not having freckles doesn't make you more or less human, it's just things that humans have.
Furthermore, we have this saying, "I'm human." And that's the thing, being human does not make you perfect. It means you make mistakes, you do really stupid things, and sometimes we do really repulsive things. Things that would seem to be so dreadful. However, that's just doing things that are human. It doesn't make you less or more human for doing horrible things. For the very fact is that humans do make terrible mistakes but it does not affect who you are as a human. It only makes you a human who has done evil things.
Realizing that we do these things is like the first step of understanding humanity as a whole. In this light, we can realize, yes, we are humans. We do these things, but that means we can also change our ways. Help others who have made these mistakes, because they are still humans. When we say something is inhumane we immediately try to distant ourselves, but we don't seem to realize is that they are humans. Humans who have made an error and need help. If we distant ourselves from people they will only carry on their terrible deeds.
It's like in Africa with the Warlords, they make their followers do unspeakable things so they are bonded together in their hideous deeds. Why? Because now humanity believes they are no longer humane and thus a different breed and not our problem.
While yes, I know you cannot make peace with everyone. We can only try. Armed with the fact that everything is forgivable and we can try to realize that people are still human. They have a chance because humans do terrible things, but that doesn't mean they aren't human still. It only means that they are just being humans who did something bad, but that doesn't change they're identity as humans.

Cloak and Dagger
Our government keeps secrets from us. For better or worse is hard to tell. However, these secrets keep us safe. If others new these secrets our country would be weaker, more vulnerable to the people who would see our beautiful country on her knees. However, these secrets can also be an two edged sword for our country.
The thing about secrets is that if everyone knows it, it is no longer a secret. While some people may argue that the government shouldn't keep secrets from we the people. How can the government protect the country if everyone knows how strong or weak our defenses are? How can the government find out if our enemies or allies are going to attack us if they know that we are watching them? The thing is that the government can't tell us its secrets. The reason is, that there are naturally going to be spies or terrorist in our country who will use this information to destroy our country. The government has to keep these secrets so that these nefarious characters cannot use this information to gain power over others or hurt our country. The reality is that the government cannot trust everyone in America to keep a secret. That's why secrecy is so important.
While on the other hand, I can understand that the country needs to be more open about certain things. The government should not be able to leave voters in the dark. Otherwise, the government can just say its classified where our taxes are going. People need to know what is the government is doing to protect us. We need to know if they're abusing their power. The government needs to have accountability.
Additionally, if they keep so many secrets how do we know if the government is really working in our best interest? Or what we voted them in for? We should not blindly trust a system that has many times let us down. While secrecy is necessary, there comes a point where people can't remember why things are secret because its so secret.
While secrets are all fine and dandy, there needs to be certain measures in place to make sure that the government does not do anything funny. Despite that, certain idiots should not reveal information because they feel they're doing the right things. We do not vote them to reveal such important information to our enemies. Yes, whistle-blowers are important, but stupid publicity stunts are more destructive than helpful.
All in all, while many may come and go, whether tyrants, fools, and betweens, they must all never forget who is the true rulers of this country--- US, us the people.

I Heart Monsters
I've always found it weird how people could like vampires. There are many shows and books about them: Twilight, Vampire Diaries, True blood, and the list goes on. The reason I found it weird was because they're all cold serial killers. In fact, more worse than your usual killer because they actually, to a certain extent eat their victims. While that may not be as bad compared to eating someone fully, drinking someone's blood is highly unhygienic, and just plain disgusting. However, we have kids reading about these blood suckers.
Like come on, I didn't get famous when a mosquito seemed to fall in love with me.
Beside that, it did get me thinking, we do seem to have this morbid infatuation with monsters in a sense. Take for instance, pirates. They rape, they kill, and they don't really look pretty when they do it. But we have cartoons about them, stories about and so and so forth. It's not just pirates that we do that to. We also do it with thieves, murders, werewolves, serial killers, and tyrants. We just seem to romanticize them, and if we don't romanticize them, we seem to revel in their terrible deeds.
While it may seem innocent to a certain extent to make horrible people cuddly in children shows. Is it right? Is it right that we make these obscenely horrible characters seems nicer then they are? If we did that to Hitler most people would be barfing up dinner and yelling. But only when extreme is standing in peoples' face do they seem to actually start noticing. Instead we have stories about unknown monsters who get glorified and shown in a nice light. It seems terrible and wrong that we do this when there are so many better men and women to aspire to be.
It seems if we ever should lose sight of what evil is because it seems normal we are in much danger as not knowing what good is. By never questioning that our so called heroes are very much the opposite and never seeming to realize that by glorifying these nefarious characters, we run the risk of creating ourselves in their image.

How to Be a Sneaky Hippy
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we
are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must
appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are
far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.~ Sun Tzu
Ironically, singing kumbaya could actually work to make the place better. Everyone needs love whether people like to admit it. If we all love each other, people wouldn't die so often, crime wouldn't exist, and then we could do amazing things. However, we all know this doesn't happen. Flower power does not change people, and when you try holding hands in love, people start laughing or just giving you funny looks if you try that stuff. To be honest, kumbaya is a ridiculous thing.
Despite that, what I'm suggesting is that if you kept your kumbayanish to yourself, then, and only then could kumbaya's magic work. You would have to be sneaky. Only singing quietly in your heart, but looking sane on the outside. Being polite to people and spreading kindness in such a manner that is smart. Something like, radical, aggressive niceness. You couldn't really leave a hint of your real intentions or the fact that you have deep innate desire to embrace trees . No, you couldn't reveal that. You would have to be moderate, not show what song lurks inside your cuddly heart. It may take days, years, but in the end you would win over peoples' heart, and then you could reveal your true hippy heart. Thus, singing kumbaya power could work to change the place.
Although, this sounds quite a sound plan, there will always be problems or exceptions to the rule. Take for instance, some people cannot accept kindness. They cannot not understand it because they have been brought up with a mindset of only pain and suffering. They will feel that you are playing games with them, or tricking them to get something. It's sadly true that people are this way, but sometimes you can crack their hard shells by repeated acts of love and kindness. It won't always work, but if it does, you will have made the world better and happier.
While this was a short demonstration on how kumbaya could work. It's always good to keep in mind that being extreme in this form, you must actually hide it till you know a person well enough to let it rip and then let them receive some of that human lov'n. Then you will be well on your way to be a sneaky hippy.

Moral Anchor
How modern is too modern? Or how radically can we be without being monsters? Where do we draw the line in saying that is not progress but the opposite. It seems that we need to have something that binds all of society so that it is held accountable. We as people need to have a way so we know something is wrong.
By this I mean, when can we justify something as wrong and we do not cross the line. With constant changing in laws and moral beliefs it seems that it's hard to tell what is right or wrong. In a sense it almost feels that we have nothing grounding us to a moral compass.
Once a upon a time it was believed interracial marriage evil, cinemas sinful and women in power unthinkable. However, we live with all these things now, and we are better for them.
My point is this, these beliefs were only laid to rest a few decades ago and even than, people still have these view points. While we know these ideals to be wrong, because they have be proven wrong, people a few decades were so sure they were right. How do we know when something is good or evil if we have nothing anchoring us? What if something we believe to be radical is something that could be beneficial?
It would seem that if we're not careful we could be holding back society from something good because we are too old fashion and thus miss out and hold back society. On the other hand, you could be the guardian of society and holding her back from destruction.
At the end of day, I'm really saying is this: The ideal of "if people are getting hurt its wrong" is no longer going to cut it. The problem with that line is, what if we don't see these effects until the next generation? Furthermore, there are to many situations to base our belief on what is right or wrong on that kind of belief. People will sometimes get hurt regardless of what we do or must do. Something must be done. If anything, we need something like a code for all humanity. A code that defines us, but also binds us on the right path, less we lose the right to be called humans.

A Big Welcome
Hi everyone,
This is my new blog and welcome. This is kinda of a experiment, so it might get a bit weirdly wonderful. However, please feel free to stay for the ride. I plan to write things I usually write about on my google+ community(Comments and Thoughts). However, having said that, it might not work out that way. I'll just have to see what happens next. I'll make no promises or statements on what happens in the near future, but I can say this, I hope you come along.
Cheers,
Jack
