Tv, Oh Tv

Television is such a great thing. It provides limited education, communication, and enjoyment. However, like all things, it can be abused. Not really touching on the things that you can see on Tv, but the fact that it doesn’t do much for you. It’s alright to watch it, but the problem is that when you go without it, you sometimes realize just how much Tv takes of you and the little it gives back.

There is nothing wrong with a little entertainment. However, there is something wrong when you don’t realize how big the little entertainment takes in your life. When you never realize just how big an issue it is because it has been your companion since from birth.

The Tv can be a child’s best friend, a teenager's escape, and a pill for an adult's loneliness, in a word, it is the great escape without the actual escaping. By blocking all our senses, it never address the issues we face. The television is something that blocks feelings and lets us live for a little while, at the price of our time, someone else's life.

What this essentially means, is that problems are never solved and people remain broken. So as long the Tv is in people’s lives they cannot resolve their issues because the Tv pushes things down. It has the capability of suppressing issues that would have normally come to surface. Howbeit, due to the television being able to mask problems, they are never dealt with.

While that may seem melodramatic, it won’t necessarily affect someone on such a grand scale. However, it does affect us all in a little ways, more or less. With television, it can be said that it makes you plateau. It makes things comfortable, or make things bearable, which can be a good thing at times, and highly detrimental in other situations.

Nevertheless, if you needed to go somewhere or you have that feeling to travel, the problem is that it holds things back. It makes you just comfortable enough, but not comfortable enough that it fixes things. It makes it so you don’t really need to fix things. Like if you had a toothache,  television makes it bearable in the things of life, so you don’t attempt to fix them, because they are manageable, livable, and doable, but all the while it is still unpleasant.

Where as, if you didn’t have Tv, you might be able to push to your real dreams, because the feeling or issue is so forefront. The issues simply doesn't disappear, making you driven and able to accomplish that you wish. By not watching television, it is giving you more time and desire, because the television is not working as a filler for those real desires and dreams you have.

Tv is just like any tool humanity has made, it can either be a boon or a curse, just depending on how the user wields it. People rarely see when they have fallen into a trap, and if they do notice, they are sometimes not aware of they fell or how to get out. Watching television will not destroy your life. However, if your life is not working and you want to do things, maybe the television is something that is holding you back. It could all very well be taking your time, and making you be comfortable with just the ordinary; Helping you settle for watching people live their dreams instead of you living yours.

Though We Be Silent, You Are Not

I love animals, you love animals, well most people do like animals. However, people usually disagree about animals in how to treat them, from eating them to worshiping them. Despite that, something we can in generally agree is that we should treat them right. Nevertheless, how should we go about making sure that they are treated correctly? In the following one will be discussing the topic about animal treatment and the effort being done.

The world does not treat animals well. That said, one refers to not them being killed but how they live. There are many stories of how animals are treated which are best described as torture.

To fully understand it, animals are left in the dark, locked in cages that conform around their body, like a second skin, and that is how they live and die. Their whole purpose is to get fat or lay eggs.

While that might seem extreme, it is extreme, and it is all to common. Nor does it take a bleeding heart to feel sad, but a normal person to see the absolute waste, the stupidity and the utter mindlessness of it.

To combat this cruelty we have vegans and veterinarians. However, despite their best interest at heart, or hypocrisy, they are like that old quote, all it takes for good men to do nothing for evil to flourish. The thing is, if they are those “good men” they are letting evil flourish, but in this case, animal cruelty. By refusing to eat just meat or use animal products in the case of vegans, they are only saying: We don’t actually care about the animals, but our own high morals. If they really cared about those animals, they would be those who took action. Action like knocking doors, rallying, internet campaigns and so and so forth. Choosing to not eat meat is no action at all, so thus being "good men" who do nothing.

Then you have animal activist, they are extreme. However, we do need that extreme. Not too much, but they are needed. They are often wrong and crazy, but the world needs someone extreme to spear head the better treatment of animals. They are not ideal, but in this time they are needed, maybe not to the extent of idiocy of PETA, but they are still needed.

Animal cruelty is still very much in this world. It is cruel to the animals and it is cruel to us. When animals are stressed or unhappy, they seem to be able to pass that unto us. So that the food is either not as tasty or healthy. If animal cruelty is going to stop, vegans or vegetarians aren’t going to be able to do it, nor will the animal activists. The vegans and vegetarians because they are to caught up with what they can’t eat, and the activist, because they are activist.

So if this situation is going to be resolved, it’ll probably up to us. Those who use the most animal products. One, because it affects us the most, two because we are many, and three, because we are most competent. Competent, that people would be willing to hear the voice of real people, not someone who’s out to prove something, but just a simple ever day person who wants something better. Like a better world for animals and the meaning of being a human being.

What Our Hands Has Wrought

A lot of times, we may feel trapped, manipulated, or forced in a position that we never wished for. While we may not like the chips, cards, or people that we have been dealt with by fate, we have the last say. So whatever we do, so to speak, is "on us".

Many people don’t like Donald Trump, that is their business. However, something that is not really their business, is that they blame him, and believe that their actions are justified by their hatred for him. They do this by acting rude, rioting, lying, and name calling. They do all these actions, and believe it just fine, because who it is directed to.

They justify all the horrible things that they do by the fact it is Donald Trump that allows them to be terrible people. However, no matter who you do things to, no matter what you do, whether you believe them evil, good, or someone you don’t like, the actions that you do are yours.

While this isn’t about Trump or his enemies, you can see that it’s not about the situation or the person that makes our actions okay, but rather our actions alone. If you kill, swear, scream, and murder people you are still doing those actions, it does not simply change because of who you do it to.

The actions seen by those that oppose Trump has been outrageous. While they may believe him to be, a racist, sexist, and tyrant, it doesn’t matter. For one it is really a matter of opinion, but also, that destructive behavior is always destructive behavior. Our actions are not justified by situations or people, because those things don’t control us. Yes, they may affect our decision making, but ultimately, our choices are our own.

So making the excuse that this person is that, or” I was in this situation”, does not justify or make right. When we do something, unless someone is under mind control, their actions rest on their shoulders. Too often, people seem to accept bad behavior because of who it was directed at or because it seemed fair.

Furthermore, it would be really horrible to wake up one day, to discover that you were a horrible person. Never realizing, because you always justified your actions by the people. It would be even worse if you found out that person, that you thought who was evil, was not actually so. Instead you would fine that you were the monster, but at the time you thought they were, so you acted like one.

We need to take a step back, and stop focusing on why we are doing something, but how does our actions look like separately. We need to think, how does my actions look like alone? If my friends and family saw it splattered on the news or papers, would they be proud? Are the actions I do, personally, and not the person that I do it to, will it make my children proud or filled with shame?

Even if something seems justified or proper, our actions are still ours. So if we do terrible things, we are still doing terrible things. Being rude to a rude person is still being rude. One cannot just simply ignore the rules. You don’t make right by doing wrong. So judge your actions by what you do alone, and not by other things.

The Speed Of Life

People seem to think that there is no time in the world, that the world is moving too fast. Nevertheless, the world is still the world, and we have as many hours as a hundred years ago. The only reason that there just doesn’t seem to be enough time, is that there is always something to do or going on. This in turn gives the feeling that there is no time, because we always have something to do with our time. Too many things to do and never enough time in the world.

In the past, there was a lot of time to think. You could think up whole new worlds, new ideas and anything, as you slowly reached your destination. Whether by walking, riding a horse, or maybe a car. In those days, it was, What to do with my time, instead of, Where’s my time?.

Now a days, even as we move swiftly through to our destination, which is so much ever faster than before, we are able to talk to people, listen to the radio, and get hired or fired in that moment of time. Before we sleep or while we sleep we can receive emails, texts, and phone calls. As we live our daily lives, there is just a constant barrage of things to do. This leaves the body in a state of readiness, always moving, and always on game. Giving the feeling of always being in motion.

The sad part is, this speed, that once was a blessing, seems to being rapidly turning into a curse. A curse that we long for, beg and ask. Just to give us more time. Never realizing the paradox in our wish. By the same prayer for speed, we only speed up our world. If we get speed in our world, it only just goes as the same speed, and instead we go faster, but really at the same pace. The only difference is that our body has to react quicker, and is taxed more.
Although we have sped up, so has our world, so we move faster, but never with enough time.

Due to the speed and the ability to do something all the time, it can often make us do rash things. Take for instance, if you had an argument with someone, in the past, you had a lot of time to think about the argument, and get your emotions under control. Now a days, after having the argument you can go your separate ways and then still carry on your argument. Even though better judgment would say no, due to you being able to call them straight away.

In addition, this speed, we expect things to always happen instantly so to speak, so when suddenly there is “nothing to do” it makes us antsy.  When the world seems to stop, it really stops. Like in traffic jams, lines, or having a moment of quite. It is so jarring, because we are always moving.

In this blessing of speed and the desire of speed, we need to realize that there is a time for everything, and sometimes it would be better to have a different strategy.
Although it may seem that this speed is bad or that we need to slow down, we don’t. We don't need to slow down to smells the flowers, we need to take time, and plan when to smell those flowers. We need to plan, and take the time. Not speed up. Speed is not going to help us. It would be like looking at your problem to fix your problem.

There is something always going on in this world. However, we need to make a decision to prioritize. We need to make the constant decision to put things in place, and make time for moments to catch our breath. Sometimes going faster is actually going slower. Part of this modern society is about ignoring things and focusing on things that are important. Moral of the story, don’t speed up, take time, and make time, because there are just as many hours as before.

For These Principles We Stand

For the principles that a people or a society has, it can sometimes make sense to keep with it instead of getting rid of it. Like the old saying,”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” In today’s society, people are constantly pushing boundaries for: good, and, but mostly for bad. Nevertheless, these boundaries, are sometimes very key.

To cover up, those that push boundaries that are not for the good of society as a whole, these boundary pushers say that they are doing it to make right. Often while shouting to push others' boundaries, and with that same breath, they accuse others who push their boundaries.

Even if a principle seem wrong, for just one case, it is most likely correct in general. Even if it may seem hard, or very emotional charged. Additionally, a case deserves a closer inspection if suddenly something that has worked for generations doesn’t work for just a few people.

When principles are shattered, it means that a flood of other things surrounding that principle just come through. Lets say people were trying to legalize torturing dogs, while unlikely, this is just to prove a point. If it was to be legalized, it is going to be very easy to let other animals be tortured. Why? Because that first principle has been moved, shifted.

Often people don’t realize how much one principle is supporting around that single principle. It is like opening a flood gate or pulling a wooden piece of a tower of Jenga. Expecting it to be easily fix or closed when Pandora’s box has been open is not possible.

Furthermore, even if something seems correct, you could be tricked. Often people who want to prove something, they start with just one case, and then more cases, and suddenly, you have all these people that the rules don't apply or seem unfair to apply to. That which worked just fine all along is suddenly, void, useless. So why are they different? Nothing is different, it's just that the case is being twisted.

Although, a principle might not seem right in some cases, sometimes it is right, maybe just not for that one or the few more others, but that doesn’t make it wrong. The minority is not the most important that it must destroy the majority just because it doesn’t get what it wants. A principle applies to many and several facades. When taking a principle down, much caution must be taken, and no emotion should shove it aside, logic should be taken in accounted for.

Lastly, if the principle applies for so many, and it is has worked all this time, maybe it’s not the principle that needs to be changed, but that person who wishes to change that principle.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Let's hope this new year will be a great year. However, if this year is going to be a great year, we have to make the choice to make it a great year. How we react to events, what we do, and how we position ourselves to change the world, will change the course of this being a good year or a bad year.

People around the world are paralyzed by the events that seem to be happening around the world. However, we all have our job and part to make this place a better world. For me personally, I like to write this blog in the hope that people can have a different perspective on things, that's how I change the world. For you guys, you might talk to someone, help someone, or maybe you have your own channel to let your voice be heard. Whatever it be, if this year is going to a good year, much of it is out of our control, but if we do our best, this year can be a better year.

Cheers, and happy new year,

Jack Snider

Will There Ever Be Again?

It is dubious that there will ever be something like Nazis. In having said that, while there are Neo Nazis and antisemitism is on the rise, and hatred for Israel is a poor mask for it. There will probably never be anything quite like the Nazis, in how they were viewed or how they have been portrayed over the years by Hollywood.

When you think of evil, we think of Nazis. We think of horrible, cold, unfeeling, Nazis. In fact, evil is almost like the synonymy of Nazi. And why not? They murdered six million Jews including, Woman, children, and babies.

There simply isn’t any excuse for it, there was no use for it. It do not help the Germans. When Hitler decided to kill all those Jews, he lost a massive resource. Many Jews at that time where skilled people, whether it be in warfare, industry, or finance. Hitler lost a massive resource. If it wasn’t for him doing that, Hitler might have won the war.

Nevertheless, we see atrocities being done that seem to match, we have genocide in Africa, ISIS, and other horrible people, evil people who just kill and kill. So do we mention them, yes we do, but do they match a Nazi, horror for horror? Maybe in some cases, but there is something about Nazis, trying genocide and doing it so efficiently.

Another factor that others can’t match Nazis is the amount of people it affected. Nazis didn’t just affect the Jews, it affected the whole world. Although, the Japanese were cruel and did affect the world, they never affected the Western world as much to bring such hatred and fear.

Also, perceptions of good and evil are dulled down in todays society. There is always some excuse for the horrors that people do. However, with the Nazis, people could say that they were evil and no one really minded. Now a days, people would be saying,”Oh, that’s really offensive or they aren’t all bad.” With that in mind, culture and society won’t let a group of people be turned into the bogey man like the Nazis, because it is not politically correct, even if they be more evil than Nazis.

That having said, you don’t want someone being turned into the bogey man, because when you fight against people, they are just people. People who do bad things, but people who can be redeemed.

So will there ever be Nazis like enemies in the future? That actually is an answer in the making. In fact you will have to ask that question to a people of a certain religion that covers their woman. As we all know there were good Nazis, but the world just says that. So will the world probably ask if there were peaceful people of that religion.

However, to ask that question, “will there ever be Nazis again,” time will have to tell. Maybe almost twenty years before a day in September, you might have said no, but now? Probably yes, if not most definitely.
