Last Night Of Our Lives

The future belongs to those who prepare for it today. ~ Malcolm X

There is something really not quite right with being short sighted. It's selfish and ignorant. Such attitudes, are what causes most of the problems of the world. From taxes to wars. If people could just see a little longer, just a little further, we wouldn't be where we are.

Being short shortsightedness affects things, globally and personally. On a global scale we see people just doing silly things with not thinking things through, for just a short financial gain instead of seeing the repercussions of things. Whether it be destroying things or not buildings things in place that could have saved lives.

On the personal scale, it's the same story, a short time pleasure, and a future hell. Whether it be taking drugs or ruining a relationship that would last forever, over something that wouldn't even last for ten seconds.

While it may seem so black and white to not see further in the future when it is presented like this, it is not always quite simple in the real world. Nevertheless, it's still there but not as easy.

However, whether easy or hard to see, the same rules and consequences still apply. If people would just play the long game things would be so much better. If we could think a little bit more beyond the pure enjoyment of now.

Yes, we hear it in songs and books, enjoy it like there's no tomorrow, but that doesn't mean it's going to be something right or even nice. Furthermore, that attitude is usually from someone who is unhappy, and doing that usually does not tend to make them any happier.

Sometimes, the short time pleasure isn't even as good as we thought. Moreover, things can be enjoyable, even if they take a while to manifest. A little pain now, can be the benefits of a life time. If your willing to not the take short cuts, you'll actually find that you get their quicker. So let us see what our actions will make tomorrow. Let us secure the future by taking a little time to think now, then regret later.

Weightless

If American men are obsessed with money, American women are obsessed with weight. The men talk of gain, the women talk of loss, and I do not know which talk is the more boring. ~ Marya Mannes

Wasn't it great time when people didn't really care about weight. A little fat was called curves, and photo-shopping didn't exist. However, that was a hundred years or more ago, things have changed.

Is there something wrong being fat? Obesity is wrong, but being fat, not so much. Obesity is not being fat, and vice versa. The thing is that obesity is an extreme, which is usually bad. Obesity affects a person, not on just a personal level, but on a more serious level; a health level.

Although, you may be fat, or look like it, most of the time, people are healthy. Looking like Barbie, is actually not good. The reason people look fat is because someone is skinnier, and then things get bad when someone is skinnier then skinny.

Honestly, though, people should be worrying less about fat, and rather what do they want to do with their body. Why do you want to be skinny? Is it because what people or the voices in your head say? Because, they will never shut up. That's something that is not fat related. If it's a matter because you want to run faster, being skinny won't help you. If it's a matter of wanting to be ballerina and you want to be skinny so you can hold an arabesque position, fair enough, but being skinny won't help you with that. If it's because you want to take your shirt off in public without fear, please keep it on.

Nevertheless, there must be a purpose for losing weight, otherwise it can be hard to remain so. There must be a reason other than just losing weight. If you have a reason for losing weight and using certain muscles than staying fit is much easier.

Another thing, is that fat is lighter than muscle. So even if you put on weight and look more athletic, the scale will say,”Your heavier, son/daughter, I think you put on some weight.”And the thing is that the scale wouldn't be lying.

Some simple facts to remember would be: Muscle is heavier than fat, dieting will not always help. Dieting is a bit like holding your breathe: After you run out of oxygen, your going to open your mouth and start eating lots of oxygen. In addition, make your sure that your not actually skin and bones in reality but fat in your mind. Lastly, everyone has a different body. People have different metabolism rates and other things. What might work for John Deer might not work for you.

At the end of the day, being skinny, personally is rather silly, you'll still look fat. For the simple matter is that what we see is not actually real. People when their skinny, just means that they don't have extra or unnecessary fat. It does not mean that they will be rippling with muscles. The only problem with being fat is when it stops you from being healthy or what you want to do. Other than that, it's fine. Also, even if you got rid of all the fat in your body it wouldn't be that great. Firstly, having fat actually looks quite nice, you would actually look ugly without it. Secondly, you would be brain dead, because the brain is made up of more than fifty percent of fat.

Although, this is quite an old topic or to be precise, a flogged horse that is dead and then resurrected back to life to be flogged some more;It seemed that, a different perspective was needed. Hopefully, with a different perspective it might help you, if not help stave away boredom.

A Sensible Tree Hugger

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.~ Margaret Mead

It would be idiotical to ignore the environment, and it would be equally so to put it above humanity. However, taking caring both is actually nearly one in the same. While holding hands together and chanting “we are one”, is useless. It would be quite interesting to point out that it does have some merit. Things are circular, and what affects one, affects another.

Taking care of nature is really just common sense. If we mess up Earth, we really mess up. While we may have not explored even a fraction of the universe, Earth is the most viable place for humans in what we have seen so far. If we destroy it, we're all dead. Literally all dead, no rewinds, or “I didn't really mean that”.

However, more importantly, just because we don't see the affects of our action, doesn't mean that someone is not being affected. Someone is----the next generation.

Howbeit, that is not entirely true, people are being even now affected by our actions of today. Just look at The gulf of Mexico, Indonesians burning their trees, or Japan releasing methane gas, which has been rumored to be calling the chaos in the weather. If anything, the poor suffer from people's play with the Earth, in a detrimental way.

In addition, we are destroying ourselves. Sure if a little amount of plants die, that's not something to cry about, but it's not just that is happening. Whole areas are being destroyed. The problem with this is that plants provide us with oxygen, the stuff that helps us breathe.

Although this might so all grim, there are great people who will be born, and are already doing things. In Israel, a mother created a fully biodegradable bottle. This means you can just chuck it in your garden and it'll break down. A true recyclable bottle. In different parts of the world, people are finding new ways to clean up the Earth, it's not all hopeless.

At the end of the day, solving the world's environmental problems will take certain steps. If we are to make better choices, it would have to be someone normal or basically you or me. It couldn't be some rich person or some politician. The reason so is, as they are one person and not everyone is rich or a liar. It would have to be a few willing souls with simple ideas, who are just living this life: Trying their best to make ends meet. A person just like everyone, so people could say, “I can do that.” Otherwise, it would just be another individual dancing around, not a combined effort. Furthermore, having a person like everyone proves that saving the environment is possible and realistic goal, if not worthwhile.

To sum it up, a woman once said on giving advice on eating right, it's not about dieting, it's about making better choices. In the same manner, it's not about suddenly stopping doing what we're doing. No, it's about making better choices, more responsible choices.

The Building Blocks To A World

Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it~ Irving Berlin

There are two very extreme views of the world, personally, one should not buy into either of them. While they are both very legitimate, at the end of the day, they are both extremes, and cannot be taken too seriously.

The first one would be the pessimistic view point. The world is dark, it's gritty, everyone is dying and being raped. Every man, woman, child, and dog for his or her life. A person with this viewpoint can only see the bad. They call them realist, but ironically, they take only a part of reality and focus on that, thus being unrealistic.

The second viewpoint, would be the optimistic view point. The sun is shining, birds are singing, the bees are humming, money is raining down from the sky and everyone is in lourvvve. They see the world through rose tinted glasses, blinders really. Blinders to block all that is bad. They cannot, and choose not to see that others around them are suffering or that there are serious issues going on.

Both of viewpoints are very extreme, and living in just one of them would be living in deception. Ignoring either one would be denying reality.

Additionally, if you just live in a world of dark, you will only see dark, because every gesture you see, will only be bad. People, things in general, they aren't perfect, and if your looking for the imperfection you will always find it. For every masterpiece there will be that mistake. If your looking just for that mistake, you will find it, and you will just focus on it. Turning something beautiful into just revolving around that mistake.

On the other hand, if you only choose to see only the happy and wonderful world, without acknowledging the darker things in life, your world will be definitely destroyed by things that you refuse to see.

To sum it up, we should really see both sides to everything or the bigger picture. There is a time for everything though. Ultimately, we should see the good in everything in our world. However, we should be flexible to acknowledge that there are problems, and they need to be realized. Sweeping things under the carpet and being optimistic that they will disappear, is ridiculous, but neither is it wiser bathing in one's or others' problems.

World View

Given a choice between their worldview and the facts, it's always interesting how many people toss the facts. ~ Rebecca Solnit

Are you happy with things? Do you wish that things were better? Do you feel that despite all the improvements that humanity has made, we have some how evolved , but woefully left our morality behind?

Do you like the world you live in? A world that seems to be turning faster every day; A place that no longer seems home?

Do you like your country? If a thousand people got together and spent their whole life time counting its debt, they would die before they could finish.

Do you like the terror you live in? Terror organizations popping up faster than weeds in a backyard: ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Hamas, and the million other terror groups that stem from something called peaceful?

Do you like the refugee situation where there are the good, the bad and the selfish, yet we are to take all? If not that then, does it seem sane that a boy would die ultimately for trying to get good teeth in Germany, and drown, leaving a safe home in Turkey. Or the refugees raping in a Russia and Germany and people denying it?

Do you like that there are organizations set up to create peace among nations and unite them, but fail? Failing so much that they would turn a blind eye to those who war, and beat those that desire it, so that somehow peace can be obtained? Do you like this paper tiger that is really UN-peace?

This is the world you live in. Do you like your world? But the real question is: Will you choose your world? Would you dare, to do something? With every tipping point there is equal opportunity for a better world as there is massive failure. All it takes is one person to realize that something needs to be done or just refuse to applaud when something is not right. All it takes is someone to change a tide. A Joan of Arc, Martin Luther King, or maybe someone just like you .

If your willing, save your world, no one will thank you or maybe even see you. However, something must be done, no matter how little it's worth. Whether it be helping someone, or something, if that is done, you've probably done a lot better than others. So, if you've done that, then really, thank you.

You Know

Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes. ~ Peter Drucker

Knowing something from actually doing, is something altogether. Sure you can know how riding a bike works: Your knees pump forward in a circular motion. However, if you never rode a bike before, you would probably find the contraption unsteady, and you would certainty wobble. Although, you knew how to make it work, it was very different from maybe how you perceived or was told. Knowing something will always be different from actually doing.

In life, there is so much knowledge, and it's so easy to access. A hundred years ago, people had to go to libraries and look for knowledge or use trial by error. It wasn't a matter of instance. However, despite all this knowledge that we have, people still don't put it to good use. We know things, but we don't really know why or how.
If you talk to a druggy or a smoker and you ask them,”You do realize this is bad for you.” Most likely they will say, "I know". The thing is we know that things are wrong or bad, but we never actually enact on it.

In fact, we all know that veggies are good for us and what kind of lifestyle is good for us. But the challenge is this, do you really know why things are things? Sometimes the things that we do are mere superstition. It would seem that a lot of things that we do is just because we have heard or things you just do.

Furthermore, even though we are so "knowledgeable", if we do things just blindly, sometimes we do not see the ramifications of our action or our inaction. There is a real danger: If we believe something to be good, when it's actually bad or vice versa, we run the risk of missing something good, or enduring something bad. Put it this way, would an all veggie diet really be beneficial to you, or do you believe so because veggies are suppose to be inherently good?

The thing is, some things, until you experience it, you will truly never know.
Ultimately, experience and knowledge are two different things. Despite having knowledge or easy access to it, it does not mean that we will be able to recreate what we know. While someone may be knowledgeable, it does not make them wise. Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge correctly. Furthermore, a lot of things that we supposedly know may need some revision.

Strangely Unique

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.~ Margaret Mead

In a sea of copycats, it's refreshing to see something unique. In a room of exact beauties, the true beauty would be the unique ugly one. To be one's own person is the true mark of humanity at it's best. However, it's not always straightforward in finding that uniqueness. Nevertheless, like a man said once, The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

It's rather disappointing that it is no longer unique wishing to be unique. The very fact that there is a category for having a desire to be unique, is rather disheartening. So even if your intentions were good to be yourself, you're, for a want for better words, are not really being you, but someone else.

So how do we be ourselves? Well the answer is not really simple. What are you would be have to be answered, and then you would have to separate habits from personality. However, to sum it up, it would be something that is unchangeable, something that has been always in you. As helper these are changeable: Looks, sexuality, tastes, and, mistakes. All those can be changed and while they may seem to define you, they are really surface compared to your inner core being.

The next to being really you and unique, would be a matter of learning your groove, and how you fit into the world. While it may seem that you may copy many styles, when it comes down, the combinations are infinite and people can only really say what they say. You may look like others, but really, those people just look like certain parts of you. How you dress, act, or what you like, are the unique expression of yourself that truly are you. Still, not all of these expressions will necessarily represent you, but it is rather a hint, of what you are. Finding that uniqueness would be a matter of really learning about yourself and following these traits to see which you are most.

Although, the world may look like everything has been discovered and done before, it's important to remember that new things are being discovered, and that there is a still a place for you to be who you are, and still be amazing and unique. After all, the world hasn't seen everything, we're still finding new creatures on this blue ball of ours and creating new and exciting things. So maybe it's time to really reinvent yourself or just find you.

Come What It May

Man never made any material as resilient as the human spirit. ~ Bernard Williams

Have you heard in those tales about how information should be withheld from the people, or otherwise all would be lost? Is it really true that humans are all that fragile? In all history, humans have been picking up the pieces and always fighting. It just doesn't seem possible that a little truth or scare would make us roll belly up would.

It's always insulting how people believe that if aliens appeared or something very scary were about to happen, human beings would absolutely lose it. We would kill ourselves in fear, loot, and just do something harmful to ourselves and others, which would inadvertently destabilize earth.

However, if anyone has read anything about history is that humans are very resilient, sure we are fragile, but we are very tough and we can adapt to knew challenges. We are not just simply pretty wall flowers, we are beings that can roll with the punches, and just because aliens exist people wouldn't start going crazy.

Some stories of resilience would be like the Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor, they did not give up. In fact, it was rather the opposite, they used the same boats that were sunk by their enemies and rebuilt them and won a war. In other cases, there have been millions of cases of people getting serious injuries and people telling them they will never walk, never do the things they love. However, these people get back up, and prove everyone wrong.

Furthermore to hone in this ideal, is that humans wouldn't just “panic” at aliens coming by, would be the fact that the “War of War Worlds Panic” in truth was a myth. The story goes that the War of Worlds written by H.G Wells incited panic in America in 1938 when it was read out loud on the radio. However, no one did really panic, no one jumped of buildings, and no one had confirmed heart attacks. The whole thing was a hoax, but people should have known that already. Yes, maybe there would be some panic in the event of aliens, but it always depends on how the news is told.

If anyone knows anything about humans, we may be stupid, but we just might be stupid enough to keep on fighting till the very end. Whatever happens in life, most humans will keep on kicking, rolling over and dying is just plain unnatural.

So, if aliens or some great disaster would befall the human race and we found out, we shouldn't be to worried, for as been said before once, we would fight them on beaches, we would fight on the landing grounds, we would fight in the fields and in the streets, we would fight in the hills; and above all, we would never surrender.
