We
do not need to be heroes to save the world; all we need is humility, a
critical view of the commercial and political interests of those who
would mislead us into wrongdoing, and a sense of wonder. ~ John Burnside
Probably
one of the saddest moments in life is when one realizes that you
cannot save the world. To realize that some people have given up to
trying to save the world, and worse still that others would see it
damned. With this revelation, it can turn most into cynics and make many feel it's all hopeless. The problem
though, it can sometimes stop any chance of this world being saved. For those that turn into cynics will then not even save what they can.
The
world is a horrible place. However, that is also an incorrect
analyzes. The reason so is that there are still many pockets of
wonderful places. In fact, even the worse people in this world have
good in them. Everyone and everything has good in it. However,
sometimes it can be harder to find than others. Consequently,
sometimes it needs special things and occasions for that good appear.
Also, the good can be very elusive.
With
the good being elusive it can cause people to only see the bad in the
world. This can bring cynicism and it is daily reinforced by memories
and the news. Howbeit, both of these things can produce false truths.
With memories it would be that happy memories for some people can be
harder to retrieve compared to the less pleasant moments. By the same
token, it would be that the news will report on things that will
cause more views. And what makes good views? Things that shock us or
interest us.
The
world is a pretty bad place, but it's not as bad as one would think.
The world is filled with much evil and good. Yes, there is much evil,
but has the good lessened? No, not at all, rather what has happened is
that the good is only covered. Hidden away, because the way things
are. With that covering it causes a heavier contrast to evil, so it
looks like evil is ever present and ever towering.
In
many ways with the world things
have changed. In many ways, things have stayed the same.
People still want to be loved, and people react well to kindness,
whether it be a short amount or a constant flow. Ultimately, the
world cannot be saved. For you can only save what has been lost, and
the world is not lost, it
only needs help finding the good. Lastly, if you look for evil, you
will find evil, and if you look for good, you will find good. The
question at the end of day is, what are you looking for?
