When In A Blue Funk

A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

There are many despicable things in this life, one of them would be cowardliness. While cowardliness may not be seen as much as a result of the relative safety we live in. When it does rear it's ugly heads, it's still as shocking an equally as disgusting. For the thing about cowardliness is that it's being controlled by our baser fears. Even to the very extent sometimes, if not most of the time, at the cost of others' lives or health. That is why the yellow color, funk, chicken, or whatever you call it, will always be held with such contempt.

Society may be understanding or willing to listen both sides of the story, but whatever you want to call it, cowardliness is disgusting. Plain and simple. No words can justify it, and no words should protect it. For in essence, cowardliness means a person gave up.Furthermore, it's important to realize that cowardliness is not just feeling fear, it's actually listening to it, and enacting on it no matter the consequences.

While being scared is a common thing, cowardliness will do anything to get away from the thing that they fear. However, just because someone is scared does not make them a coward. If you fight against the fear, and even if means dragging your feet with your hands to move because your so scared. That does not make you a coward.

In a sense, cowardliness and courage are two choices you are faced when your in absolute terror. One shows true selflessness and the other shows the worst of humanity. Those two choices will always be there in this life.

Additionally even if someone has been a coward, there is always hope for them. We all have done things that weren't brave. However, it's important to realize that even if you were being a coward for one minute, you can stop at the next. And so applies with trying to be brave for the very first time or the hundredth time. The effort is what really defines one from being courageous or being a coward.

If your scared, dig deep, be brave for the folks at home, and put one foot over the next. Keep doing that till you reach where you must. Don't think about anything else, just do what you must. Then you'll succeed. If you don't succeed at first, do it again.
