I believe that the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you. ~ Joyce Meyer
In a world where we are constantly bombarded with healthy living, it seems that a lot of the messages can be very conflicting. Also, they aren't always very helpful. This is particularly due because healthy living doesn't really fully address the mindsets or beliefs people have; Vegetables,
dieting, exercising and starving to death. It was never going to be
very impressive. However, thankfully a healthy lifestyle doesn't always mean that path.
The
thing about living a healthy life, it doesn't really mean you'll have
a body to kill for. You can be healthy and not have a body that is
super fit. That fitness usually comes from photo-shopping, protein shakes, and training for a particular sport.
True
healthiness in a sense should be happiness of body and of mind. Just because one is fit in body does not necessarily mean one will be fit in mind. Furthermore, since the mind controls the body, if it is not healthy, nothing can be rightly counted as healthy. So be happy in mind even if it overrides happiness over body. For what is the point
in living a life without simple joys of eggs and bacon?
All
our bodies work differently, and what works for someone may not work
for you. With different metabolism rates, every body will burn fat
faster or slower. While sometimes it feels that one does everything, and yet them pounds never waver. Sometimes it can be that your not using a proper style that is tailored for your needs. And if your struggling, it may help to get some professional help to just push you in the right direction. Nonetheless,
oft at times it can be rather that you need to have a different
perspective.
The key to doing things different is not getting rid of unhealthy habits, rather it's make new one's. So if your eating something that you know is not very particularly healthy, maybe find something alternative. Or, have it only now and then. In addition, finding new recipes can help changing one's diet for more wholesome meals. This can be done by starting out with Caesar salads and then moving to harder dishes. On the other hand, it can also be done by convincing the people around you to cook for you. Howbeit, the former may be easier than the latter.
With eating healthy, as a rule of thumb: a veggie in every meal is a good start. Also, just because it's nasty doesn't always mean it'll be healthy.
Although eating is important, exercise is important too. Exercise is not only good, but it helps release endorphins which basically mean in a nutshell: chemicals in the brain saying,"I'm happy". With exercise, it's important to remember that small and regular trumps over big and then never. There is really not point in doing a million push ups in one day and then doing nothing for the whole year. It would have been better to spread it out. Even if you were only doing ten push ups a day.
At
the end of the day, it's not about looking super fit or doing
something rash to get your body in shape. Rather it's about something
you can do that works for you. It's not about looking sexy, it's about
feeling happy and healthy.
Furthermore, it's important that you ask yourself, why being super fit is so important to you. This is so, because if it's how you see yourself, you'll never be fit or healthy enough in your own eyes. So just be careful and try and look at your motives. Sure it can be one of the motivations. However, if it is the main motivation, you may find that if you don't see results straight away, you may be disappointed and give up. Instead, do it because you want to be healthy and happy, both now and the future.
